What type of seeds do we use to overseed your lawn?
Lawns in Michigan consist of cool-season grass that thrives in our climate. Some of the most common grass types you'll find are Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue. When you sign up for our overseeding service, we overseed your lawn with one of two premium grass seed blends. The first is an all-purpose blend that includes Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue seeds; the other is a Kentucky bluegrass blend. You can't go wrong with either one. All of our seeds are high quality and develop into thick, lush blades of grass over time.
We can fertilize your grass seeds once they have been spread on your lawn to fuel their growth!
When do we offer our overseeding service?
We offer our overseeding service between late August and early September. This is the ideal time to overseed your lawn. That's because your grass is just emerging from the stress of summer and needs replenishment. Plus, at this point in the year, your cool-season turf is getting ready to enter the fall growing season. As temperatures dip, cool-season grass begins to grow vigorously. Overseeding in the late summer to early fall positions your new grass seeds to capitalize on the optimal growing conditions.
We have been overseeding lawns in Kentwood, MI, and nearby areas since 2011.
Is overseeding available as an independent service?
Yes, we do offer overseeding as an independent service. However, we do not recommend overseeding your lawn unless you pair it with our core aeration service. Pairing overseeding with aeration helps ensure your lawn experiences the best possible results. When you combine these two services, we always core aerate your lawn prior to overseeding it.
Core aeration creates thousands of tiny holes in your lawn that allow water, nutrients, sunlight, and air to penetrate below the surface and reach the roots of your grass. These holes are great places for grass seeds to settle, develop, and enjoy lots of seed-to-soil contact. Maximizing seed-to-soil contact increases the likelihood that your seeds will germinate.
